About Me

My love for travel began as a zookeeper at the Pittsburgh Zoo, when my boss and mentor Joe Bissonnette sent me to Southern Africa for 21 days in 1974! That safari was a life-changing event that instilled in me a passion to protect wildlife and wild places, and to share those wonders with other travelers.  I became curator of animals at the Oglebay Good Zoo in 1975 and started a travel program that took me to South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Kenya.  In 1994, I became the zoo director and sent five curators to Kenya, the Galapagos Islands and Costa Rico as a way to "pay it forward” to our zoo staff.  I retired in 2015, and formed Wander the Earth Expeditions.

My travels include Mexico, Cuba, Botswana, Kenya, Borneo, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Zanzibar, the Galapagos Islands, Peru, Italy, Iceland and Vietnam. I just returned from my third visit to Morocco in March 2023.

Where shall we go next?
